Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Today began with the furnace running but the temp quickly rose to the mid 70's. We had a tee time at Lake Diamond Country Club with Gary and Anne at 12:15. Due to the high cost of fuel we suggested we ride together and since they had a gasoline vehicle vs. our diesel truck they drove. On the way to Ocala we saw the line had been crossed, diesel was now selling at the Shell station for $4.04 per gallon. We sure hope that these spiraling fuel costs start to level off. In five days we have seen diesel rise from $3.69 to $4.04.

The golf course was one of the more expensive we have played this season and for the most part one of the more difficult ones. It is such a popular place to play that when we arrived there were no carts available. The effort to carry our bags to the driving range was our only real exercise for the day. Our scores were poor but the round was enjoyable. After spending time at every golf course trying to spot an alligator we finally succeeded. Next to the ladies tee box at hole thirteen we spotted a small (4 feet long) gator swimming across a pond. (Sorry Steph - I had my camera in my golf bag for just this occasion, but I was too far away to run and get it.)

I'm starting to miss everyone back home, especially since my sister Pam and her husband, got to have dinner last night with Michael, who is working in Atlanta for three weeks! Yes, I was jealous, but Pammy came through for me - she emailed a picture.

At first we thought something was wrong with Michael, but it seems he shaved his head on purpose. (Mark thinks this is funny that he and his brother shave their heads, because if they would just leave it alone, it would fall out on its own!)

If everyone else would send us their pictures, we might not feel the need to come home in a month. Just kidding - the countdown has begun, as long as the weather cooperates. If there's a chance of winter weather, we'll be staying in Gulf Shores, Alabama for longer than a week.
