The End is Near

Happy Easter to everyone. We managed to talk to both boys and both of our dads today. We are very sorry that everyone is experiencing a snowy Easter Sunday. As I recall, we came home last year in early April, and we had an ice storm on Easter morning. This, we remind all family and friends, is why we are in Florida!

We had a surprise 72nd birthday party for our friend John today. Joe BBQd burgers, shrimp, onion and beef shish-ka-bobs, and the rest of us brought baked beans, potato salad, chips and dip, birthday cake, ice cream, plus jelly beans and malted milk balls. He was extremely grateful for all the attention we gave him.

The birthday man - John, and his wife Frances.

Marilyn was kind enough to put the candles on that you can't blow out.

It was so hot in the sun, we all had to cram under the awning where it was 20 degrees cooler.

After stuffing ourselves, everyone headed back to their respective homes. We went to the pool while others napped. Gradually around 6pm everyone finally came out and about.
The main topic of conversation here is, when are you leaving and are you coming back to Grand Lake. There is a feeling in the park that even though most of the 400 spots are still filled, the season is just about over. By the end of this week there will be 100 or more empty spots and we are told that in two weeks from now almost everyone will be headed home or to another RV park on the way home. We will be leaving for Gulf Shores, Alabama this Friday for a week or two depending on the weather in St. Louis. Home is calling but so is the Gulf of Mexico!
