Finishing 2007

We started the last day of the year by visiting the Williston Country Club to see if we wanted to become members. I guess we dressed properly or at least said all the right words because the manager gave us two rounds of golf and said to let them know if we wanted to join. We will enjoy the golf.

Diane played with the ladies golf group this afternoon for the first time and shot 46. Apparently clouds and a chance of rain aren't enough to keep us away from the course.

We showed our age this New Year's evening. Instead of partying til midnight we went to dinner at 5:30 and then sat around with some old friends and some new friends talking about whatever RV'ers talk about. We're trying hard to stay awake until 11:00pm EST. Still trying to get used to this Eastern Time Zone.

Strange Happenings

Did you ever drive through the south and see those stands for Hot Boiled Peanuts? After seeing such signs for over 30 years, we decided to give them a try. The only way to describe them is a mouth of hot mush! We both said, "Yuck" but we just kept eating those nasty things, just to see if they got better ... they didn't! We finally gave most of the bag to our friends.

This evening's entertainment was different to say the least. Five guys "pickin and grinning." The favorite songs were, "I Just Don't Look Good Naked Anymore" and "Walking 'Round in Women's Underwear" sung to the Winter Wonderland tune. Top that!

Turns out one of the boys in the band lives right down the road from the lake house we recently sold. Small world we live in. He knew exactly where our property was, and lots of the same people.

Not sure we'll go back to this "every Sunday night" entertainment, but it certainly gave us a reason to laugh.

Almost forgot - Mark played in the Sunday men's gaggle (some kind of golf game) and won $7. Yeehah!

We've Arrived

After 11 hours on the road on Wednesday, and 8 hours yesterday, we arrived at our final winter destination of Grand Lake RV and Golf Resort in Orange Lake, FL. We spent Wednesday night near my sister, Pam's house, so she and Dennis picked us up and we got to visit for several hours over dinner. Saying goodbye wasn't so hard to do, because they will be joining us for a while this winter in their new 5th wheel!

We had one minor electrical problem once we had set up - seems the Ground Fault Interrupter had gone bad. This meant no electric in the kitchen; no where to plug in the coffee pot (YIKES), no where to plug in the outside decorations. A trip to the local Home Depot this morning solved the problem. We finally got the DirecTV satellite set up today. Funny how we forget how to do that all the time. Sometimes it goes smoothly; today it did not!

This park is fabulous. Lots of activities going on, plus the 9-hole golf course on site. Yes, Mark was out there today.
